A panel of judges including renowned outdoor and adventure travel photographer Alex Ekins will select a shortlist of six which will then be judged by public vote at the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival Photography Exhibition at the Showroom/Workstation during the festival weekend (1-3 March).
Dave Mycroft, Managing Editor of MyOutdoors, said: "ShAFF highlights the quality and range of adventure available to everyone in the area and is the perfect vehicle to introduce both new and experienced photographers with an adventurous eye to a wider audience. The Peak District gives so many opportunities for adventure right on the doorstep of a city. ShAFF is the natural home for a competition like this - with films and speakers on travel, exploration, extreme sports and the environment, an adventure really is what you make it."
"We wanted to restrict entries to one shot per photographer to level the playing field. A talented amateur or aspiring pro with that one magic shot will be able to able to compete with the experienced professional with a lifetime's portfolio. John and Alex are renowned photographers who will ensure standards are high. Having a public vote over the festival weekend will mean the competition is ultimately judged by real people looking at real, high quality printed stills with a real interest in adventure, voting purely on merit without lobbying."
