Offering a high level of flexibility on location and working hour patterns, the new role is designed for someone who wants to combine their own passion for being active in nature, with inspiring others to participate.
New participants enjoy the outdoors thanks to an itsgreatoutthere grant
The It’s Great Out There Coalition (IGOT) is an International Non Profit Association (INPA), registered in Brussels, that was set up and launched by the European Outdoor Group. Through the #itsgreatoutthere campaign, the coalition promotes outdoor participation to the general public, focusing on engaging with new and diverse groups. Opening Up the Outdoors (OUTO) was founded by outdoor brands, experts, and organisations, and is committed to breaking down the barriers to inclusivity, and supporting the changemakers, across Europe, who are doing the work to make the outdoors a safe and welcoming space for everyone.
OUTO was incorporated into IGOT in 2022 and the two organisations now share a secretariat. The communications manager will contribute to the expanding IGOT and OUTO advocacy programme, working closely with secretary general Margo de Lange. Responsibilities will include: Ensuring that IGOT and OUTO messages are communicated consistently and in a way that engages with target audiences; collaborating with brands and #itsgreatoutthere grant recipients to tell great stories about the delivery of the coalition’s Outdoor Activity Days (Outdoor Activity Days - It's Great Out There (itsgreatoutthere.com)) through grass roots projects; and shape the organisations’ presence at key events including OutDoor by ISPO, ISPO, the European Outdoor Summit and Kendal Mountain Festival, with a view to new member acquisition.
Margo de Lange secretary general for the Its Great Out There Coalition
Margo de Lange comments: “We have created the perfect role for a communications professional who is determined to combine their work with a real passion for getting active in nature. Oursuccessful candidate can ski or hike in the morning and craft their stories in the afternoon, or create amazing content first thing and then climb or surf until sundown. Of course, we need a colleague who will be fully committed to supporting IGOT and OUTO in our vital campaign, but we really want that person to also already be fully invested in the outdoors.”
The IGOT and OUTO communications manager can be based anywhere in Europe and will have the opportunity to work with leading outdoor companies and other organisations. For more details visit Communications Manager (Job Advert) - It's Great Out There Coalition (itsgreatoutthere.com).
