The European Outdoor Group (EOG) has announced the first details of a new award platform that will celebrate the best products and other developments in the outdoor sector.

The European Outdoor Award (EOA) is being delivered in partnership with Munich-based company MPM AG Media and is the latest initiative to be confirmed as part of the inaugural European Outdoor Week from 14-19 May.

The European Outdoor Award will provide a platform to showcase and celebrate the latest innovations in outdoor products, along with other aspects of the industry’s ecosystem. An overarching aim of EOA is to make innovative product developments visible, create relevance, and effectively support both sell-in and sell-through. The award scheme will also highlight diversity and inclusion in the outdoor industry, and best practice in environmental, social and governance work. The EOG commissioned MPM AG to manage EOA due to the company’s strong track record of delivering other high profile industry award programmes, such as the ISPO Award.

EOA will take centre stage during European Outdoor Week in Riva del Garda, with a set-piece awards ceremony on Saturday 16 May, followed by a high profile exhibition. The EOG and MPM AG are putting a strong focus on proactive communications, to ensure high visibility around Europe, and to offer brands and retailers a powerful platform for marketing and storytelling.

EOG managing director Christian Schneidermeier comments: “The outdoor industry is bursting with innovative thinking, creativity and a positive and proactive approach to addressing big challenges. The new European Outdoor Award will put the spotlight on the diverse and holistic nature of our sector, from equipment and services to tourism concepts, materials of the future, and personalities and campaigners. We have a lot to celebrate and communicate, and this platform will allow us all to do that on a big scale, not just during European Outdoor Week, but in the lead up to it, and afterwards.”

Christian Schneidermeier has been appointed director of the Europeaon Outdoor Group 002

From 14-19 May, the first European Outdoor Week is being organised by the EOG in partnership with MagNet Srl SB, and will also feature the return of the Outdoor trade show, alongside Outdoor Running and Business Days, and the second Outdoor Impact Summit, an EOG Assembly, and Activation Days for key trade and consumer communities. In holding all of the elements together during one focused week, the EOG and MagNet have responded to the industry’s demand for fewer calendar commitments, and more effective gatherings that optimise costs and resources.

Full details of the European Outdoor Award and how businesses can participate will be revealed in the near future. For more information about events during European Outdoor Week, visit www.europeanoutdoorgroup.com/european-outdoor-week.
