Keela Looks to Make Black Friday Brighter

Each year Britons spend an estimated £8.57 billion over the Black Friday weekend.

This year, Scottish outdoor clothing specialist Keela plan to run an alternative event; Bright Friday, donating 15% of all sales from the website over the period of 20-29th November 2020, to children’s charity Cash For Kids.


For the second consecutive year, Keela will forego discounting on in favour of donating the equivalent value to Cash For Kids. Over Black Friday, other brands typically offer items at a discounted rate in a bid to boost sales over the festive period. In a break from the norm, Keela will instead make a cash donation equating to the value usually set aside for Black Friday discounts. 15% of all sales generated over the nine-day period will be given to the charity and to support the work of Cash for Kids across the year.

In a move that is sure to bring festive cheer, the brand has chosen to pass the donation on to those that need it most this Christmas. Throughout the year, national charity Cash For Kids works to improve the lives of disadvantaged children who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect, or have additional needs. Every year over the festive period, Cash for Kids launch Mission Christmas. The initiative aims to provide children, that would otherwise go without, with a present to open on Christmas Day. The donation given by Keela will go towards providing gifts to children supported by the charity.

Keela Sales Director, Sam Fernando said: “Traditionally Christmas is a time for giving. Following on from the positive feedback of last year’s Bright Friday event, we have decided instead of offering discounts on our products, for the week leading up to Black Friday, we will instead make a donation from the sales generated on over this period.  In the current climate, we know that charities need as much support as possible and we are happy to be doing our little bit.”

We realise that Christmas is a luxury that some families just can’t afford. That’s why for our Mission Christmas campaign we collect and distribute gifts to make sure that disadvantaged children have a gift to open on Christmas morning. The Keela Bright Friday Event will run across the from 8:30am on Friday  20th November 2020 through to midnight on Sunday  29th November.
